We added an FAQ section and a forum to ‘share the love’. We also built an interactive map so people could easily locate open businesses nearest to them.
Springing To Action
When the COVID-19 pandemic first struck in our hometown of Athens, GA, and the reality of how a ‘shutdown’ would affect our beloved small businesses, we committed to doing whatever we could to help spread the word about their varied offerings.
We began by designing a website directory on the fly, scouring the web to gather as much info as we could about what various businesses were able to offer under the unique circumstances. The result was a site featuring a simple, user-friendly directory system, categorized by ‘Food & Drink, Retail, and Services’, leveraging real-time data sourced from local publications like Flagpole and Online Athens.
With a helpful push from our friends at the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce, the site gained recognition, and local businesses registered in droves.
